Now active in over 122 schools throughout Maryland and Washington D.C., Trout in the Classroom students raise and release their own trout, learning first-hand about fish biology and stream ecology. Learn more at www.troutintheclassroom.org.
Legendary angler, author, photographer, and instructor Lefty Kreh is a local! A trail along the Gunpowder Falls is dedicated to our state’s very own world-renowned champion of fly fishing and environmental stewardship.
Listed in TU’s “Guide to America’s 100 Best Trout Streams” MDTU helped to establish the Gunpowder as a blue ribbon tailwater trout fishery, and works to actively protect this special watershed today.
MDTU volunteers share the experience of trout fishing with Baltimore City youth each spring. Participants leave with free fishing tackle, and invaluable appreciation for the outdoors and conservation values!
